Meet my latest obsession ...

Now, I know I should name her, but I just haven't come up with anything appropriate yet. How did I come by her? Well ... funny little story ... involves me being an absolute idiot ... and keeping my previous bike outallnightintheexactsamespotwithoutlocking  ::::headdeskheaddeskheaddeskheaddesk::::

Right outside my bloody door, and someone came waltzing around, and probably without even a thank you very much waltzed right out of the place with my awesome Trek hybrid!!!

This was last Wednesday. I had been commuting to work on my bike for a while, and was getting used to the thrill and fun of it. It didn't take me more than a day to get antsy, missing out on my ritual. On Thursday evening, I headed out to my local bike store to see if they had anything that wouldn't break my wallet. For once, there actually was something second hand that fit me right. As far as bikes go that is a rare thing, people. Being short is expensive. You have to either buy a new one, or wait forever until something in the right size come along. And well ... patience and I don't have the best of relations.

So there it was ... in the snazzy black and yellow combination - my first road bike. I had never tried drop bars before. The first ride home was a slow, cautious one on the sidewalk. Since then, with a little bit of tweaking after every ride to get it set up exactly right, it's been a lovely progress back to the road. I'm getting more and more comfortable riding on the hoods, and easing my deathgrip on the bars to shift my hand around. I still need to take it down to the bike shop for more minor gear and brake ad position adjustments. But I'm getting set to improve my ride time and distance. Being out on the road makes me laugh for the sheer fun of it.

Oh, and my VFF-BFFs work just fine for pedaling. Boo Yah!
