I know I saw Ann Nocenti a few times. I remember she was short with a big rack. I'm pretty sure she was considered very cute around the office (of course even a moderately attractive woman was elevated in the context of that geeky, male dominated atmosphere.)
ah always imagined her as short but th big rack thing surprises melostcosmonautOctober 3 2008, 13:37:49 UTC
no way, you worked for Marvel ?? She mighta been th only writer I really liked from that company. They had so many great artists, though -- Marshall Rogers, Barry Windsor-Smith, Art Adams, Walt Simonson ... I can't think of a whole lot of female names ... Louise Simonson ......

My dad worked for Marvel and I used to visit the offices sometimes. He moved over to DC in the, I dunno, late 80's? Can't quite remember. But I sorta vaguely remember Ann Nocenti. Not sure if it was from visiting the offices or from a convention or what. I might have only seen her in passing, not sure if I was ever introduced.
I had a gig doing assistant work for Howard Chaykin when I was 18. He shared an office with Walt Simonson, who was a super nice guy. (Louise was really wonderful, too.) It was a dream job for a high school kid. What could be better?

ha ha yr experience of seeing her in passing is sort of how I view her relationship to th comix industry: in passing
I mean, she was on Daredevil for five years, which must have been pretty intense, having yr own thing every month for five years, but from interviews it seems like she got a job @ Marvel almost by accident -- through a Village Voice ad -- and Daredevil was just supposed to be a one-isssue fill-in !
Then after DD I know she kept writing comix but wasn't nearly as visible, then disappeared altogether
