I would be really surprised if Moffat intends on revealing the Doctor's name. Then again, Moffat does frequently surprise me. But I like what you say, about the question not really being about the Doctor's name but about WHO THE DOCTOR IS. And, honestly, that's why we all watch this show, because you never quite know who the Doctor is, he always has the capacity to surprise you.
Yeah I feel like if it's just about his name that's too easy. There's got to be more too it. And we have had a bit of stuff this season that hints at the type of person the Doctor is so I wonder if we're going to get and extension of that next season. IDK Moffat could be going anywhere with this. The thing is, people have asked Doctor Who? Time and again throughout the series (including in Classic Who) so I feel like there must be something significant about who says it and why or something... IDK It's a tad confusing! LOL I suppose we shall just have to wait to see what happens.
