16 ; In Which Nico Robin Dies and Sniper Gains Resolve

Jun 22, 2011 21:05

[Sniper's writing looks more or less the same, but its pace is uneven--first it speeds across the page, and then it stops and his writing slows before it gains momentum again. The only thing that is of note is the way the ink presses into the page, deeper than usual.] A woman died today. I only got there near the end, but it looks like she was ( Read more... )

Yeah, when I arrived, she was halfway in it already. I can't explain it.

Void? Then maybe it was her. Or someone that looked like her.

Jesus Christ.

That's horrible.

It is. [A brief pause.] If you were her friend, I'm sorry.

It's not something I'd lie about.

I don't expect anybody would. For what it is worth, I'm sorry. You have my condolences.

Thanks, but I think it's the friends she had here that I should be apologizing to.

I don't recognize your writing, so if you're new here? Be careful. Stuff like this happens.

I'm sorry. It's one thing to lose a friend, but it's another thing to not know just how good of a friend they were until it's too late.

It's-- [ARGH okay, he cuts himself off there because it's not all right and he feels horrible having people send him their condolences when he did nothing to halt her death.] I didn't know her while she was here, so as I said to the other person who wrote in, I think we should be saying sorry to the people who did, once they show up.

Jesus.

I-I'll send someone from Medical right now. For...you know.

There's not really anything left to clean up. If one of her friends show up, maybe they can bury it.

It's still disturbing so it's best to let someone equipped to take care of it do it.

[which in his head is anyone but Lezard.]

Yeah, all right. You're probably right. I'll be waiting.

[Oh. Heavens. He is not in a state to do this right now. But he has to, he simply has to.]

Sniper-jūn. Are you still at the scene?

[Sniper doesn't respond. If he didn't tell Genius he was going to wait for the medic team to come pick up Void's arm, he would have left. He probably doesn't have to wait for them, but he wants to make sure her arm isn't picked up by wild animals. She deserves that much from him. The last thing he wants right now is to speak with someone, really.

His throat constricts and his heart hammers in his chest, but he dares not cry for a woman he didn't try to save. When Huo arrives - if he does arrive without Sniper telling him to come - he will see Sniper sitting crosslegged in front of Void's arm, fingertips gently placed upon hers. He has taken his bandanna off out of respect and he's made no effort to tidy up the mass of black curls that fall over his face. His other hand rests on Kabuto's staff, which is lying across his lap.]
