Sorry this post is going up a bit late you guys! Did anyone see the Longmire trailers aired on AMC movie screens before The Avengers this weekend? Good promo for the show!
I find Walt and Vic's relationship odd. I'm not really sure how either of them feel about the other. I don't get why Michael and Cady possibly getting married has to really mean much of anything for Walt and Vic. There's some awkward and a few uncomfortable jokes but that's all. Does Cady even want that? Do Cady and Michael know about Walt & Vic's relationship?
One of the reasons it took me so long to get around to reading this is that I'm not a fan of the back and forth type of story telling. I got busy and had to put it down and then was too confused to start it again until I had a block of time.
I loved the scene with the real Eric Boss and Vic. <3
Cady and Ruby both hassling him about being undercover was fun. It was funny how bad he was at keeping his cover.
There wasn't much spirit guide type stuff in this one (unless I've blocked it out) there was the owl but that was it. And the drugging really would have been a perfect excuse for it.
I've kind of already forgotten the mystery elements of this one! Lol.
But I agree with you re: Vic & Walt's relationship. It gets weirder after this book in the fact that...nothing happens and they never mention it again/interact in any kind of romantic/flirtatious way. It is so, so strange.
ETA: Spiritual stuff- Why am I thinking he has a dream when he first goes to the burned out home/scene of the crime and gets attacked/passes out? Maybe? I could very possibly be confusing it with one of the other books.
nothing happens and they never mention it Are you kidding me? I mean I get that things don't always progress in a linear fashion but that's truly odd. You'd think with Walt's chivalrous side and Vic's horny side *something* would have at least been mentioned in the next 3 books and a mini book.
he has a dream when he first goes to the burned out home I don't remember that at all BUT that is exactly where I stalled out when reading it and took almost a month to get back to it so it sounds entirely possible. ;-)
I still want to read the rest of the books but I think I'll wait until the tv season is over. That way when I'm dying for a Longmire fix I'll have something to tide me over until season 2.
Unless I missed it, there is no mention of it in the next three books AT ALL. There's a tiny moment where maybe Vic is a little jealous of another character Walt mentors for a hot second in the last book, but it's a stretch to say it's because of their relationship. I didn't read the e-story so I don't know if that mentions them at all, but in all the logical places where you think their relationship issues would crop up again--they DO NOT. So strange. (FYI though, Lena comes back at the second half of the most recent book. There's not a lot of her, but...she is there!)
Well, the characters do go through life and relationship changes as the books progress, but mostly they're stand alone and mystery stuff is always new. You probably wouldn't be too lost.
