They explained why the couple couldn't leave the house -- the girl was haunted, not their home. Anywhere they went it would have been the same.

Anyway, PA seems to have different effects on different people. It really worked on me and my wife. I'm still freaked out by it and it's been months.

For a film more your speed (maybe) try "The House of the Devil". It's plot isn't much more involved, but it's got great atmosphere. Plus it was done like an early 80s film, so you'll feel nostalgic, too.

That explanation didn't wash with me because the couple didn't even try to leave. They just accepted it. At any rate, yes, several friends of mine loved PA. It seems to have struck a chord with many people.

Will have to check out 'House of the Devil.'

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY is one of the two worst films I have ever paid to see in a theatre.

The other was Gus Van Sant's remake of PSYCHO.

I studiously avoided the Psycho remake, even with Van Sant.

I have zero interest in PARANORMAL ACTIVITY but look forward to THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL.

Yeah, I'd never heard of it before, but it has Tom Noonan, Mary Woronov AND Dee Wallace.

House of the Devil isn't bad, but it's deadly slow until the last 15 minutes.

I liked Paranormal Activity a lot, myself. It also scared me a lot, because I watched it alone at home right before bed.

Still haven't seen Moon, but looking forward to it!
