EGM is being shut down.

http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=21759

I had been wondering what was going on over at the Ziff-Davis offices over the past few years.  Slowly but surely, all the voices at EGM that I had come to know and respect had been vanishing.  EGM had been shrinking in size every month, and, even though it remained the best American magazine in the industry with it's hard-hitting features and reviews, I knew this day was coming.  I've been an EGM reader since the start, and I felt that it was the only gaming magazine that grew up along with me.  Nintendo Power and Game Pro (the only 2 magazines that have been around as long) remain infantile and lackluster.  But EGM was special.  It's a sad day for the gaming industry, but also a sad one for people like me, who still value having a hard copy of something that can be held and leafed through.  For me, the internet gaming sites will never be as convinient or accessible as a print magazine.  I will miss the days of getting the new EGM in the mail, reading it cover to cover, and then reading it again before the next issue comes out.

If the world in my lifetime moves completely into digital distribution for all literature, including books, I just may snuff it.

As Rupert Giles once said..."It's the smell."
