A friend loaned me a copy of Flight (Vol 1 and 2). It's really quite good, for the most part. The graphic short stories have a decided tendency towards the postmodern, both in terms of story and subject matter, but that doesn't detract from the sheer joy of reading them.

Vol 2 (the one you seem to have borrowed) is the better of the two, that's for certain. You will enjoy it muchly.

I can't comment on the rest of your stack, although I do want to read From Hell (loved the movie) and I always enjoy Neil Gaiman.

From Hell is pretty intriguing so far, though I think because of its sheer size I am going slowly because I get tired carrying it around/holding on to it.

Anansi Boys is definitely very good, I enjoyed it a lot. (Though I am basically a shameless Neil Gaiman fangirl, so I may be biased.)

Flight vol. 2 had some really cute moments in there. I loved some of the art styles, I wish I had my own copy so I could go through it for hours on end. I shall look out for vol. 1 too.

Yay! From Hell!
It will scar and disturb you far more than the movie ever could. That's no reason not to read it, though...

I did the "waiting for the sun to rise" thing in 2000. I live right by lake michigan, so I got an unobstructed view over the water. It was nice, but it was also quite cold. I was sitting on a rocky outcropping with a small bottle of brandy to keep me warm.

Word of advice: Do something that'll last until an hour or so before sunrise. Those hours between 3-7 take forever, even realizing the temeprature's reasonable (for you, anyway) this time of year.

I wish I was near a lake or mountain or something naturey like that - as it is I'm pretty much in the middle of the suburbs staring out at the nearby carpark and train station. So not quite as pretty, I imagine.

The advice is a good idea - maybe I can sneak in a quick nap or something before seeing the sun rise.

I stayed up to watch the sun rise on the night of my university Summer Ball this year. We all came back to halls after the ball finished and we got "moved along" by security guards, ate chips, changed out of our finery then tramped out to the golf course at about 4am.

My tip would be to make sure it's a clear day! When we did it there were clouds in the way so we couldn't really see it and it took AGES to get up to a hole in the clouds. The sun itself wasn't that impressive but it was still a pretty amazing thing to have done, it's all about the feeling you get from it.
