I’m halfway through my stay in India and feel quite at home at the office, and at the flat too. But I still want to go home!

Last night I got rather upset.
london1952 and I were chatting on Skype when the phone rang in London; it was the credit card company. They asked me to call them.

I tried a few times, managed to get connected and got cut off twice ( Read more... )

It surprises me that a credit card company would hold the card member responsible for fraudulent charges.

I peeked in and saw that Amazon dot com doesn't have any new copies of the books mentioned but did have some used copies. I might get some used copies of some dvd's for minor things I want. I am too old school to buy dvd's used - books are sometimes even better used.

Have you considered any destinations that are further south in India. I am sure there are some princely palaces and other exotic things that might be closer (Hyderabad is in your neck of the woods)

Are the credit card rules different in the UK? (I am sure they are but hopefully not to that extreme) Most credit cards have a 25 or 50 dollar liability limit on them here. Hope things get resolved soon. (Maybe the could give you some free credit to use in Madeira

Have you read the original Mapp and Lucia's books by E.F. Benson? They are brilliant!

Re the credit card there's fraud protection in the UK too; but I guess it'll only apply if they are satisfied I didn't play online poker and that I took the necessary precautions in keeping my card details safe. So I won't know until they have finished their investigations.

I would love to go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellora and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajanta_caves which are both in this state but it's a 6 hour drive.
So I'm thinking of going to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matheran on a day trip on Saturday.

Sorry to read about your credit card woes, Franco!

We have limited liability here in the states when it comes to fraud and theft.

Thank you Cory!

Hopefully I'll get some money back but won't hold some my breath!
