There was knocking at his door. The sun was not even up.

Hak Soo was not nocturnal.

When the knocking just became more insistent clunking against his door, he threw off the sheets and went to the door to answer. The minute he opened the door, he regretted the decision. It was the harebrained alchemist who decided that Hak Soo's practice was a charity rather than the business that he saw it as being.

"Go. Away," he bit out, before slamming the door.

After assaulting the door with his knocks, Chai was rewarded with a glimpse of the doctor he had been seeking. He stepped forward slightly, beaming in relief.

Before he even had the chance to raise an arm and form the words to a greeting- a gust of wind blew past and the sharp sound of an impact cut him off. The doctor was gone and the door was shut tight once again.

Chai wasn't fazed by the reaction, it was like their little ritual. Part of their game before the man would patch him up.

However the doctor left him something else today to accompany his traditional 'door-to-the-face'. A stubbed toe. Chai's knocking resumed with more fervor accompanied by whimpers. It hurt.

"Please... Open the door!"

Hearing a whimper on the other side of the door, Hak Soo sighed and pulled the lever, opening the window in his front door. He would steel himself against that little corner of his heart that claimed to still possess a conscience and turn this fool away.

"You might think that our...previous encounters," he couldn't help but to grimace, "mean that I will act as your personal medic, but I'm not a bottomless charity case."

He didn't wait for a reply before pulling on the lever again and began walking towards his bed for another two hours of blissful sleep.

Chai pressed on with his efforts. The doctor would cave in sometime. Hopefully.

But it seemed that knocking was not enough. Glancing at the window that had been open moments ago, Chai peered inside. He leaned forward, pressing his face until the lens of his glasses were rubbing against the glass of the window.

Then Chai remembered... the doorbell! He hadn't needed to knock all and he was getting tired of knocking with his one good hand. Peeling himself away from the window, Chai glanced around for something that looked like doorbell material.

He pressed the first button he saw. Three times, for good measure before rushing back to the window to see the effects. Had it worked?
