WHO: Emiliana and Kai WHEN: June 22nd, Tuesday evening. WHERE: Emi's restaurant-slash-flat. WHAT: Just a friend patching up another friend after he goes and almost gets himself killed.
He hadn't incurred much damage during the stupid stunt other than wounded spirits and a guilty conscience. He thought he was a badass; whether thinking or wishing on shooting stars made that a truth of God, well.. That generally had been left up to the indecisiveness of his imagination
( ... )
Another knock and Emi forced herself to relax. And she would have been successful had her mind not been racing with the million and one horrible possibilities and outcomes that could occur once she opened the door.
Hence why she made sure to grab a carefully hidden gun from the kitchen while absently patting her thigh to make sure she had at least one knife on her. Now that her brother had all but left her alone, and without knowing if Abby was home for her to call for potential backup, she could never be too careful.
Not bothering to turn on a single light or candle, she moved toward the door. A deep breath, gun cocked in precaution, and she flung the door open only to find-
"...Kai? What are you-Ay dios, what happened?!" Quickly depositing the gun, Emi tugged her friend inside, the door closing behind them as she made quick work of filling the room with light.
"Min skat!" Kai cried cheerily upon seeing her lovely face replace the tidings of darkness, all smiles for the brief moment inspite of how his pale face painted a picture of macabre. He ambled inside upon the beckoning on her hand, a wince shattering his field of vision as the room suddenly filled with light. "Ahhh, not so bright.."
Stupid, goddamn, mother fucking brick. He wasn't sure if Emi would be proud of his shenanigans, or give him a welt on the opposite temple so both would match. After a day of awkward hardship and conversation it was a risk he was worth taking.
"I promise it's not too bad!" He assured with a pause. "-- I ran into some trouble when I was going to make a pick up. Caught the tail end of a fight and stepped in to help out. Unfortunately, I wish I could say this little mess I've gotten myself into was from the fight with a human, and not a piece of a house."
The moment they were both inside and she had sufficient enough lighting (after pausing to dim it a bit for Kai's sake), Emi rushed back into the kitchen for a wet cloth. The echos of copper pots and pans smashing together in her haste to find some gauze echoed throughout the kitchen and the main area as Kai continued talking.
Finally locating what she needed, Emi hurried back to where Kai was, a concerned scowl still etched on her lips as she firmly, but carefully, pushed him down onto a nearby chair.
Then she paused.
"Wait, what," her brow furrowed as her hand raised to press the damn cloth against the side of his head in an attempt to clean whatever wound was there before she could assess the actual damage. "Are you trying to say-" Another pause. "That no one did this to you directly but you ran into a, uhm, wall?"
