He hadn't incurred much damage during the stupid stunt other than wounded spirits and a guilty conscience. He thought he was a badass; whether thinking or wishing on shooting stars made that a truth of God, well.. That generally had been left up to the indecisiveness of his imagination ( ... )

Another knock and Emi forced herself to relax. And she would have been successful had her mind not been racing with the million and one horrible possibilities and outcomes that could occur once she opened the door.

Hence why she made sure to grab a carefully hidden gun from the kitchen while absently patting her thigh to make sure she had at least one knife on her. Now that her brother had all but left her alone, and without knowing if Abby was home for her to call for potential backup, she could never be too careful.

Not bothering to turn on a single light or candle, she moved toward the door. A deep breath, gun cocked in precaution, and she flung the door open only to find-

"...Kai? What are you-Ay dios, what happened?!" Quickly depositing the gun, Emi tugged her friend inside, the door closing behind them as she made quick work of filling the room with light.

"Min skat!" Kai cried cheerily upon seeing her lovely face replace the tidings of darkness, all smiles for the brief moment inspite of how his pale face painted a picture of macabre. He ambled inside upon the beckoning on her hand, a wince shattering his field of vision as the room suddenly filled with light. "Ahhh, not so bright.."

Stupid, goddamn, mother fucking brick. He wasn't sure if Emi would be proud of his shenanigans, or give him a welt on the opposite temple so both would match. After a day of awkward hardship and conversation it was a risk he was worth taking.

"I promise it's not too bad!" He assured with a pause. "-- I ran into some trouble when I was going to make a pick up. Caught the tail end of a fight and stepped in to help out. Unfortunately, I wish I could say this little mess I've gotten myself into was from the fight with a human, and not a piece of a house."

The moment they were both inside and she had sufficient enough lighting (after pausing to dim it a bit for Kai's sake), Emi rushed back into the kitchen for a wet cloth. The echos of copper pots and pans smashing together in her haste to find some gauze echoed throughout the kitchen and the main area as Kai continued talking.

Finally locating what she needed, Emi hurried back to where Kai was, a concerned scowl still etched on her lips as she firmly, but carefully, pushed him down onto a nearby chair.

Then she paused.

"Wait, what," her brow furrowed as her hand raised to press the damn cloth against the side of his head in an attempt to clean whatever wound was there before she could assess the actual damage. "Are you trying to say-" Another pause. "That no one did this to you directly but you ran into a, uhm, wall?"

"To be more precise--" Kai began as he winced, mouth poised for a long second in a silent howl of pain that died before it ever reached the tip of his tongue. "I-I, well, there was a fight, and I maybe had to use my gun a bit to scare people off. Not the bubble one! A real one! It was like I was a cowboy, it was kind of amazing. These assholes were picking a outnumbered fight with this string bean of a guy and had him all cornered up with knives and such."

Then, the great pause. "But it kind of scared the hell out of me to be perfectly honest, and in all my rush to get away after I made sure the string bean was safe I maybe kind of might have tripped, fell, and slammed my face against some broken foundation and cobblestone."

Fingers carefully carding through his hair as she continued carefully cleaning what she could, Emi listened, making soft noises in response as Kai spoke. "At least you didn't use the bubble gun by mistake," She mumbled dryly, fingertips gently prodding at his head for any other bumps or cuts. "Did the man escape, though? Because I hope you getting hurt wasn't all in vain."

Placing the bloodied rag on top of the table, Emi sighed. "I'm not sure if you'll need stitches or not," she said after a brief moment. "Are you hurt any place else? And did this happen earlier today? Do you know who was involved?"

As if on cue a spray of bubbles dawdled towards the heavens, popping far before they could ever reach that point in a soapy spray. Kai returned the toy to his coat with a sheepish grin, if anything hoping to lighten the mood of his savior in waiting. "He did, he did. Gave me a lecture for bringing a gun to a knife fight, but he at least made it out safely."

To the notion of stitches the Dane whimpered softly, not so keen on the idea of another round of pain, or a permanent reminder of his unfortunate scuffle with broken bricks. "Fanden, this is going to be embarrassing as fuck if I need stitches," He lamented briefly. "Ah, it was about.. an hour ago, not so very much earlier. It seemed sort of like a territory spat."

Briefly startled at the sudden onslaught of bubbles, Emi wrinkled her nose and flicked Kai on the cheek in retaliation. Nothing too hard, at least nothing near what she would normally unleash, but enough to at least annoy the blonde. "You know, you're the second person to come to be tonight about getting into a fight," Emi commented, giving a piece of Kai's hair a gentle tug. "A friend of mine, Sindre, was apparently ambushed. Said something about a-"

Emi stopped, brow furrowing slightly before she shook her head, disregarding the idea. Instead, she focused on the sudden whimper that left the man's lip. Eyebrow raised in bemusement, she shrugged. "I would volunteer to do them, querido, but I am not sure how adept I would be. Though, I can look 'em over under a brighter light and see if you really do need stitches. If not, I think I can handle it. If you let me-" All teasing aside, Emi offered Kai a small smile before sighing. "So they really are pretty fresh, hm?"

"Did he make it out of the scrap okay?" He asked with less than veiled curiosity, completely unaware and disconnected to the fact that the other man might be related to his own scuffle. He wrinkled his nose in kind as she swatted at his cheek in mild humor and stuck out his lower lip in a 'subtle' pout. "Ah, if you could just look 'em over and see if I need stitches, that would be great.. Sooner not go to the doctor if I can handle it, or have word get back to Søren that a piece of cobblestone ate my face."

At the next of such questions his pout only continued to bloom until he resembled something akin to a puppy who was just told 'no'. "Y-Yeah~," He lilted in as much cheer as he could muster. "Like I said, as long as my brother doesn't find out I'm ace. I'd rather miss out on that burning humility. But.. How've you been skat? It's been ages it feels like."

"More or less," Emi replied with a roll of her eyes. "He stayed here for a bit before I decided we both needed to get some sleep. Not sure if he did just that, but he's more or less fine, yes." She repeated with a slight sigh before she resumed looking Kai over, fingertips brushing against his arms and shoulders lightly for any wounds or bruises he may have been attempting to hide from her.

Shifting in her seat once more in order to slide her fingers through his hair once more, Emi gently tugged his head down further for a few moments. "Well, I don't think you need more than three or four stitches, so I might be able to do it if you don't mind the whole alcohol, thread and needle thing," she said, a small but weak grin on her face before she leaned back once again. "But I've been-" She paused, biting her lip before shrugging. "The same as usual, I suppose. Still hiding from family, got a bit bruised up from a mission with Manny, and reading the books Ja-ah, I mean, Montour gives me."
