WHERE: Fancy Mediterranean restaurant. 
WHAT: Gupta's not quite... ready to admit that he was dating Sadiq, but he would like his mother's approval anyways.

"Yes, the menu is nice." Not just that, but the atmosphere was lively and the decor was very fitting. Nafretiri handed her menu over and ordered softly in English, smiling as she thanked the waiter. There only choices had been Greek and Arabic, of course. Though she loved Italian food she didn't eat it much because of the bad memories.

"You picked a good place." she praised in a tone that all mother's used when speaking to their children. Though... she did find it a bit odd.

"You had mentioned before, you wanted to tell me something?" Of course she would let Gupta tell her in his own time, she knew from his posture that he was uncomfortable, but she figured she might as well bring it up now rather than later.

"I am glad." The questions, when they came, weren't much of a surprise, but Gupta squirmed nonetheless and lowered his chin bashfully. He looked --for an instant-- like the boy he had been a decade ago. He opened his mouth to speak and found himself at a complete loss of words. Reaching out to take a sip of his water, he swallowed hard and tried again.

"Mama, I'm...I'm dating someone." Meeting Nefretiri's eyes were the hardest things he had done in a while, and he could only manage it for a second before lowering his eyes to his lap. He hadn't felt this shy in front of his mother since he was a very young child.
