Maybe this should do this with a bigger group next time...
Blinking, she looked down at the envelope currently behind held in front of her before she grinned brightly at the blond. "Thank you, Sindre~" Emi all but cooed as she hugged him tightly before pulling away.
With a quick look at the bags she had brought along, she looked back up at her companion before tilting her head. "Well, have you eaten yet at least? I only had a small breakfast, really. So I don't mind eating and relaxing for a while."

Sindre caught her glancing wistfully at the water. No, Emi clearly wanted to go in the ocean. Sighing up at the sun, Sindre made a mental note to put on extra sunscreen before heading out. "We can go in after we eat," he offered. "I just burn easy".
Setting his book back down, he stood up to help Emi set up the food. "How have you been, lately? I haven't seen you around."

At his inquiry, she paused, considering the question briefly.
"I've...I've been better. Or, well, I've been having some pretty shitty days lately," Emi responded bluntly before shrugging. "But it's gotten better, I think. I mean, yesterday was really nice so here's to...here's to hoping it stays like that."
Nudging her bag away absently with her foot, she focused her attention back on the blond. "What about you?" Emi asked before settling down on top of the large towels they had placed down earlier.

Taking a small bite of her own sandwich, she listened as Sindre carried on, eying the blond thoughtfully. Again, it seemed as if the sounds of seagulls squabbling was getting even closer. Taking another bite before reaching over for a quick drink, Emi hummed in response.
"You don't owe me anything, don't worry about it. But you are welcome~" She replied with a slight smile. "And you like him, eh? But he...has feelings for someone else?" Her nose crinkled slightly in thought. "He hasn't given you any names?"

Attention momentarily redirected by a particularly loud squawk, Sindre resisted the urge to throw something at the encroaching birds. There were plenty of people at the beach today, and the gulls would get bored trying to steal their food eventually.
He shook his head at her question. "No, he hasn't. He seems almost shy about it, which is unusual. But then again, so is him being serious about a person." Sindre smiled a bit sheepishly. "And I haven't asked. I wouldn't stop him if he tried to tell me, but...I don't really want to know. He likes a different person; I don't need to know anything else."

She waved off the thought for the time being.
"But whatever happens, just know that I'm here if you ever need to talk." At that moment, another loud squawk caused Emi to flinch slightly in surprise before she shot the nearby birds an annoyed glance.
"...I swear, these birds seem more annoying than I remember."

Who's attention had quickly been caught. And were now staring right at him. Shit,/i>.
The birds started closer. Sindre tore up more of his sandwich. The birds hopped closer. Sindre tossed more sandwich, further away. The birds were undeterred. Sindre scooted further away. A few of the birds flapped their wings, flying at Sindre, gaining momentum.
Sindre broke. Scrambling up, he darted away from Emi and the rest of the food. Those few birds kept coming at him, with more joining.
He did the only sensible thing. He started running.
