Apparently Norwegians just give money for birthday gifts; i'm not just being lazy and uncreative. talks_to_nisse September 18 2010, 07:53:28 UTC
Sindre needed this. Time away from whatever Søren was becoming to him. Time away from Valdi's entanglement with the mafia. Time away from work and school and all other stressors. Time with a friend with whom he could simply relax ( ... )

I'm sure it's part of Norwegian tradition. vnv salylimon September 19 2010, 02:29:35 UTC
"You sure?" Emi asked, raising an eyebrow before she spared the ocean another quick glance. "I can stay here, it's not problem. Maybe...I don't know, sunbathe. Or something." Though, really, that wasn't something she normally did. Lazing around was good and all, but why laze around when the ocean was right there? But leaving Sindre behind would make her feel just a bit guilty.

Maybe this should do this with a bigger group next time...

Blinking, she looked down at the envelope currently behind held in front of her before she grinned brightly at the blond. "Thank you, Sindre~" Emi all but cooed as she hugged him tightly before pulling away.

With a quick look at the bags she had brought along, she looked back up at her companion before tilting her head. "Well, have you eaten yet at least? I only had a small breakfast, really. So I don't mind eating and relaxing for a while."

It really, really is. talks_to_nisse September 19 2010, 04:47:43 UTC
Sindre returned the hug before considering Emi's proposal. He hadn't eaten...at all, he realized. His morning had been rather rushed; he'd have to ask Søren if he'd been messing with his alarm clock again. He was rather hungry, and Emi didn't seem too enthused to just sit in the sun.

Sindre caught her glancing wistfully at the water. No, Emi clearly wanted to go in the ocean. Sighing up at the sun, Sindre made a mental note to put on extra sunscreen before heading out. "We can go in after we eat," he offered. "I just burn easy".

Setting his book back down, he stood up to help Emi set up the food. "How have you been, lately? I haven't seen you around."

I totally believe you. vnv salylimon September 19 2010, 05:49:16 UTC
Smiling slightly, Emi nodded as she began to take the food out from their bags. "We'll have to wait a while before we go in. But we don't have to be out there long if you burn easily," She offered, tugging out the drinks she had packed before setting them down carefully beside them. Really, she could tell that this was more of a conflict of interests and, if Sindre was willing to compromise for her, Emi could readily do the same.

At his inquiry, she paused, considering the question briefly.

"I've...I've been better. Or, well, I've been having some pretty shitty days lately," Emi responded bluntly before shrugging. "But it's gotten better, I think. I mean, yesterday was really nice so here's to...here's to hoping it stays like that."

Nudging her bag away absently with her foot, she focused her attention back on the blond. "What about you?" Emi asked before settling down on top of the large towels they had placed down earlier.

Sounds like a plan~ talks_to_nisse September 21 2010, 13:37:37 UTC
Sindre shook his head. "Some of it's people related," Sindre began. "My brother's made some rather stupid decisions lately". He wasn't about to get any deeper into the relatively new mafia aspect of his life than that. "Part of it is just work and classes, and trying to juggle the two while being responsible for my brother". He fell silent after this, watching nearby gulls tussle over a bit of food ( ... )

Brothers and stupid decisions? Emi could understand. Maybe. Though she supposed it really depended, since she knew nothing about Sindre's brother. But he couldn't be as stupid as her own brother, no? Well. One never knew.

Taking a small bite of her own sandwich, she listened as Sindre carried on, eying the blond thoughtfully. Again, it seemed as if the sounds of seagulls squabbling was getting even closer. Taking another bite before reaching over for a quick drink, Emi hummed in response.

"You don't owe me anything, don't worry about it. But you are welcome~" She replied with a slight smile. "And you like him, eh? But he...has feelings for someone else?" Her nose crinkled slightly in thought. "He hasn't given you any names?"

Sindre shrugged. "I do. And I don't want to. Or rather," he amended, "I don't want to complicate things. He's been a friend for a long time. I was happy with just that."

Attention momentarily redirected by a particularly loud squawk, Sindre resisted the urge to throw something at the encroaching birds. There were plenty of people at the beach today, and the gulls would get bored trying to steal their food eventually.

He shook his head at her question. "No, he hasn't. He seems almost shy about it, which is unusual. But then again, so is him being serious about a person." Sindre smiled a bit sheepishly. "And I haven't asked. I wouldn't stop him if he tried to tell me, but...I don't really want to know. He likes a different person; I don't need to know anything else."

"Mm, no, I understand that," Emi said lightly as she gave his arm a gentle squeeze before pulling away. "Whether or not you tell him or whether or not he tells you who exactly he has feelings for, I-I know it probably won't be easy to deal with." Unless, of course, this was just another case of them liking one another but thinking the other doesn't feel the same.

She waved off the thought for the time being.

"But whatever happens, just know that I'm here if you ever need to talk." At that moment, another loud squawk caused Emi to flinch slightly in surprise before she shot the nearby birds an annoyed glance.

"...I swear, these birds seem more annoying than I remember."

Looking back to her, Sindre tried to look reassuring. "I'll live either way, Emi. It's just another thing to live with, at least until it goes away." His hands had belied his words, however, picking at the crust of his sandwich. Annoyed with his mental lapse, he jerkily tossed the food away, not thinking about the birds.

Who's attention had quickly been caught. And were now staring right at him. Shit,/i>.

The birds started closer. Sindre tore up more of his sandwich. The birds hopped closer. Sindre tossed more sandwich, further away. The birds were undeterred. Sindre scooted further away. A few of the birds flapped their wings, flying at Sindre, gaining momentum.

Sindre broke. Scrambling up, he darted away from Emi and the rest of the food. Those few birds kept coming at him, with more joining.

He did the only sensible thing. He started running.
