Despite Hak Soo's training, Pochi would not be soothed by a simple command. If anything, he only became more excited, yipping and clawing at the door to get to the source of his master's voice on the other side. Then, the pounding abruptly stopped. Pochi sat back on his heels and cocked his head to the side almost curiously. It was quiet in the apartment for a moment, and if anyone's ear had been pressed up to the door they would have heard heavy breathing on the other side.

"Hak soo..." Kiku's voice, though no higher than a whisper, still slipped under the door as audibly as if he had been standing right in front of her. "If you are home... I insist that you open the door, or else I will be forced to call the police on grounds of suspicious activity within this apartment."

STOP BREATHING ALL OVER MY DOG

But neither was Kiku. There was another pregnant silence. And then...

A dialing tone. Kiku had put his phone on speaker so that she would hear it. The phone rang, and rang, until-

"911, emergency services. What's your emergency?"
