i have returned to america.
to my bed, to mountain dew, to mother's embrace.

i am trying to catch my breath from it all
with sand in my shoes from the beach in barcelona,
sunburnt nose &henna tattoo.

and now, all i can do is sigh.

my feet hurt and the sun is hot.

no one even commented on my bon voyage entry.
im kind've glad im gone.

there is a loose blue tarp that covers the top of your swimming pool. it has been leaf-littered and is brown &dirty now, and an entire colony of tadpoles dart around inside the small puddles ontop of it, made from recent rainstorms. i slip my hand down in one and they are very much alive, scuttling across &underneath my hand, and inbetween my ( Read more... )
