here. Vid notes: Shiny new fandom, beautiful new footage, the OTP to end all OTPs. I've been a Sherlock Holmes fangirl since I was 9 years old and didn't know the word fangirl. I also, in my teen years, was very taken with Young Sherlock Holmes. (I can't be the only one, right?) But the BBC version has wedded my love of contemporary young adults using technology (Veronica Mars, Gossip Girl, anyone?) with my long standing if dormant love of Sherlock Holmes, transforming it into a love of *Sherlock*. This new addiction hit hard and fast, and I've been thrilled to immerse myself in this new footage.
This vid came to be partially because of the timing--I fell into Sherlock fandom just as The Arcade Fire's new, brilliant, breathtaking album The Suburbs was released. I call this a Sherlock vid--and obviously, it is one--which is a big deal, because it's my first departure from SPN vidding since I started vidding seriously. But in my mind this is equally an Arcade Fire/The Suburbs vid. That is, I feel that the process was as much about exploring the music and illustrating it and changing its meaning as it was about transforming Sherlock via the music.
Along these lines, this is actually going to be one of a series of three vids, each one focused on one of the three episodes of Sherlock, and each one with a different song from The Suburbs.
