I'm watching me some Stargate today... I had a hard time getting into the pilot for Atlantis (which I watched mostly because it seems that it will soon become unavailable on netflix's watch instantly- hopefully they'll work out a new deal and it will reappear in my queue). SG-1 was just all about the team love. I loved each member, and they loved each other in a way that was just awesome to me. And I found the eps very funny, sometimes touching and just plainly entertaining in a fantasy-based way. It should be said, the first 4 seasons are probably the best, then it starts getting a bit old. I did feel like the last season (10) got suddenly much better again, but too little too late as it was cancelled.

Are all the SG-1 movies after the end of the series? It looks like there's at least two of those.
Atlantis is gone from watch instantly so I will be watching SG-1 for awhle now instead. I'm sure I'll have more opinions soon. ;)

I love both shows. I agree with surreallis that the first four seasons of SG-1 are probably the best. The team dynamic in those seasons is wonderful and there's a lot of team love. I stopped watching the show halfway through season 9 though, because the team (literally) wasn't the same anymore and there was a new enemy that I didn't really like. It just didn't feel like my show anymore.
Atlantis, on the other hand, I adored until the very end. This was my TEAM, moreso than the SG-1 team was. While I really liked Jack O'Neill, I loved John Sheppard, because he seemed even more protective of his team than O'Neill and there was a certain vulnerability about him (yes, me and vulnerable characters.. ;o)) that O'Neill often lacked.
So while I loved both shows, it's SGA I truly fell in love with and became really obsessive about.

I haven't seen much of the enemies on SG-1 yet, but the Wraith? Pretty terrifying.
