Lots of musings on teevee

Okay, so I've been hitting up the Netflix waaaay too much lately.  I think it will be really good for me when the 15th hits and I need to take a break from it financially.  For a month or two.  And maybe just to to streaming only for awhile. It takes me forever to watch and return dvds.

Hey, I used to watch 1-800-MISSING in the early days, though it was a bit hit-and-miss when I'd catch it.

I liked the premise, and Sunny and Brooke were good characters, too. Without them, Jess would have had a bit of trouble carrying the show by herself. I managed to see a few episodes from the second season, and was a bit disappointed that we lost Brooke and Sunny, but the plots got quite bit more serious, with more serious implications than season one.

It changed to just 'Missing' in that second season, as near as I can tell, at least for Canadian audiences. Also missed Gloria Reuben's opening theme song ("The Dream is Real"). Oh, well.

Thanks for pointing out all the FP connections, because I would not have known about them unless I actually went back and watched the show again.

There's plenty of other people who've been on both shows too, but those three episodes right in a row with so many connections struck me as kind of amusing.

"Missing" makes more sense than "1-800-Missing" as a name... they only used that phone number reference in the first episode, so I can see why it changed.

If the plots get better I may have to give season 2 a try. Although the next to last episode in season 1 was pretty damn intense!!

The whole 1-800-MISSING deal was due to the book series that inspired it: "1-800-WHERE-R-U" by Meg Cabot.

So you can see, even 1-800-MISSING is a damn sight better than 'WHERE-R-U'.

In the end, simply re-naming it 'Missing' was a better choice. I can't imagine too many people were even aware that it was based on Cabot's stuff, so it's not like 'name recognition' was a huge factor.

I noticed at the beginning in the credits it mentions it's based on some books, but I didn't know that's the name of the series.

I'll probably keep watching, at least until I reach the episode with Michael Cram. ;)
