Yeah, I tend to attempt to not butcher the "other" loved ones of my pairing for the purpose of pimping my own couple. It doesn't seem to empower them. If the other person is an asshole, it's an easier choice for them, and I want them to choose each other because they want each other, not because it's the 'default' option. Still, doesn't mean I don't ever get angry and want to slam the other person, haha. GRRRRRRRRRR. Sometimes I end up doing it anyway, I must admit.
Remy, though, I do like him. You notice I rarely write Bobby because writing him positively wouldn't be easy, LOL.
