I once heard a sermon where the speaker said that in this verse:
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.
The "this" referred to faith.. that faith is not from ourselves and is a gift of God. (Since obviously, grace is a gift from God so no need to point it out.)
Anyway, somehow that makes sense... remember the father who asked Jesus to increase his faith? Maybe you just need to ask God and he'll help you have faith in the big city.
ugh, sorry to hear about the woman. I hope she didnt suffer at least.
I believe that death is hardest on those left behind as well, it's easier when we have the hope and belief that we will see them again...I can't imagine the grief of losing someone without that assurance.
Two of my friends passed away in 07' on the same day. A girl to skin cancer I knew since we were kids and a boy I was in band with to a brain tumor they didnt find out about until it was too late. The girl was 21 and just got engaged. The boy was 22.
A friend of mine's mom told me when I was in middle school that when you grow up your friends die, I never really thought about it until it happened. Some people are just too young to go so soon.
Re the kid ... that is a bit strange. I heard that children generally resemble their fathers early on because ... well you already know who the mother is. But then again that's a really subjective thing. Probably just a bunch of dominant traits she happened to inherit. What do you mean by the "talking with her hands" thing tho'? I've not noticed Asian Americans or various Asians to be more hand talkie than anyone else. Or is that just you?

It's a lot to wrap one's head around.

It's a horrible way to go.
And, yes, some people are just way too young to have to go.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss, even if she wasn't a close friend. Some deaths are just more surprising than others.

Yes, it's just shocking when you hear of these types of things. They seem to just come out of nowhere and for no reason whatsoever.
