Note zarah5: I thought this was a really interesting interview with Löw which provided some insights into how die Mannschaft operates. Also, it provides insights into how much Löw values young players.

That made me grin, too. Prinz Poldi ambles along where others dare not tread!

"Well, I’m sure it’s nice to win a title."
I'm sure it is, too, Herr Löw.

(excellent translation, btw.)

*g* Methinks Herr Löw does understatement well. Must be his proximity to the border of Switzerland.

(Thank you!)

Wow vielen dank!!!

Eventually, we reached a point when I said: Yes, sure, I understand you, but this is the way we do it! Like this! That's how I want it! LOL seems like Jogi is a very autocratic leader.

He seems like someone who may be willing to reconsider his own opinion - but you will have to give him some good, solid arguments. As in, damn good arguments. If you don't have those? Do what I say!

Probably makes sense; at some point, you do need to put your foot down as a trainer.

As nice as Loew obviously is, he is manager of the team. And as Fergie says, there can be only one person in charge, and guess who that person is - the manager!

Finally!

They asked all the right questions! I now love Poldi more than ever.

We know Mesut calls him Mr Loew because a comedian called him up to impersonate Loew him before the Bayern game!

Loew said, in an interview with that child-moderator for ZDF that the players call him "trainer" but some say "Mr Loew"

That is a really good Jogi impersonation, imo! O:

Hallo Mesut! Servus!

I love how Mesut says "I know" when the guys says "Hey Mesut, it was just a bit of fun..."

This is a long way of saying: it was almost too good.

They got everything though - his slurpy breathing. The hesitations between words, the breathing, the way he swallows his syllables.

I was impressed. I was touched too that the receptionist recognized the voice immediately. To be a legend you need something distinctive. Loew has THAT voice, and hair that is always the same length!

It's a great impersonation, it is! And the receptionist was totally star-struck, it was cute. (I'd be totally the same way. Actually, I passed Jogi when coming out of a restaurant a while ago and barely dared glance at him because I didn't want to be one of those fans with no respect for a person's privacy.)

I find it really interesting to read a bit about what goes on behind the screen in a NT. :)
It's clear that there is an idea behind the NT and their style of play. Regardless of what happens in the tournament, I don't think that that's the wrong strategy. If you look at their ages, this team is only the same age as the Spaniards were in 2006. They have not reached their peak yet.

They treat each other with respect and are very polite and friendly also to people in our second or third row.
No Balotelli types for Löw then, that's clear. :D

>>Regardless of what happens in the tournament, I don't think that that's the wrong strategy.<<
This, yes. I'm very much hoping that even if something does go wrong, Jogi will be able to continue doing what he's doing with this team. They've grown so much since he took over and I just love the kind of football they play (when things go right, of course).

Team spirit aaaaaall the way. :)
