"Not got any celery have you? No, no, not really the climate."

Hmm... I wasn't expecting that. You all know what I'm talking about.

You know, for a a second, I thought the BBC had put in a copy of "The End of Time" by mistake. With the shot of Earth and a narrator talking, I was all, "Um, haven't we seen this before?" But did anyone else find the narrating pointless? I think if it had been there from the beginning of "The Hungry Earth" then it wouldn't have been so bad. All it really does in the end is say "Something bad is coming for the Doctor" which we already know. I did think for a bit that for the end we would go ahead 1000 years and see Tony and Nasreen living with the Silurians, a la Battle for the Planet of the Apes. I guess not, but it's a fun thought, of Tony and Nasreen, waking up in 3020 and trying to broker peace between the humans and the Silurians.

Oh, but poor Rory. I didn't expect them to kill him. They rarely kill Companions. And I so wanted Rory to stay. He was getting along with the Doctor and he and Amy had resolved their issues. It just seems cheap. Just as Rory and Amy finally make it work, they kill him, but I suppose, that's the way it always is in television. I don't see why he had to die though. Sure, it's a big emotional thing for Amy but then she goes and forgets Rory completely. Not her fault, sure, but it feels cheap. I guess the Doctor remembers and that leaves him with some angst, but it's not as strong as, say, Amy mourning Rory. I see now where the engagement ring and the future Rory and Amy come in. Future Rory and Amy was a good way to lull the audience into a false sense of security. Heck, it lulled Rory into a false sense of security. And the ring... I guess if Amy had been wearing it, she'd probably wonder why she was wearing an engagement ring. I thought maybe the Doctor would use it to help Amy remember, but nada. Is the ring box just sitting there in the TARDIS? I like to think the Doctor picked it up and it's sitting in his jacket pocket. For all I know, the Doctor fixes everything that's been happening with the Crack, and Rory comes back at the end of the season. Though, that would be cheap as well. You can't please me. ;-) But now we'll have Amy just going on, acting like nothing has happened, because from her point of view, nothing did happen. That's just going to bug me. I hope they address that next week.

Interesting that Rory says at one point, "I trust the Doctor with my life" and he gives up that life to save the Doctor. Goes to show how far Rory has come since "The Eleventh Hour". But that moment of when Rory pushes the Doctor aside, it felt a little awkward. I'm sure the Doctor could have soniced the ray gun in time. Oh well.

The Silurian plot was kind of boring. Nothing much happened. They threaten to start a war and then they just go back to sleep. At least they better explained why these Silurians don't look the same as the Classic Silurians. Same time period and species, but a different race. I think the new Silurians look best when they have their mask on. The human looking eyes sort of clash with the reptile skin. Also, the masks look a lot scarier. Oh well. Ooh, at least the Doctor got to mention that the Silurians he met before were wiped out. Doctor Angst! Whoo! Gives him motivation, too. He failed to save the Silurians last time.

Random: wow, Mo, Elliot and Ambrose were sort of pointless in the end. Okay, Ambrose killed Alaya and that messed things up, but they really didn't need to be there. Celery! Used as a restorative by Time Lords. I like to think that's why Five wore a stick of celery on his lapel instead of that silly "detects certain gases in the Praxis range" explanation. But why did the Doctor say that human bacteria was the only thing keeping him alive? I know some bacteria is good for you, but wha? And hmm, the Doctor pulls out a burnt piece of the TARDIS from the Crack. Really? Blowing up the TARDIS? I hope the finale doesn't suck, because they've been setting up stuff like crazy.

I was curious as to why next week's episode is called "Vincent and the Doctor". Who's Vincent? Then I saw the trailer. Oh... Sunflowers!

And the first Adventure Game comes out next week! Yay, Doctor Who video game!
