Meme: Timestamp Commentfic

Oct 02, 2011 14:14

Choose one of my fics and give me a timestamp - e.g. two weeks before or five years later - and I'll write you a commentfic telling you what happened.

My fic masterlist can be found here. If and when I ever get more fic on it, I'll probably do this again (depending on the turnout). I've never done commentfic before, so we'll see how this works out

Oshit. I've wondered this myself. YOU ARE A LITTLE EVIL. I ended up thinking about this until I feel asleep around 2:30AM.

I'm pretty sure Gerard goes on a bender. It's self-pity, to be sure, but he doesn't really think about it like that. He ends up drinking and doing a lot of drugs and he does it to numb the hurt of losing his mate before he even has her. And Mikey watches, but he doesn't really register what he's seeing. He doesn't realize why. And Gerard's happy with that. Well . . . for the given value of 'happy' in a situation like his. He doesn't want Mikey to feel like this is his fault, like there was something he could've done, because there wasn't. Gerard would never have allowed him to give up Alicia, especially not now that he's seen how happy they are.

Gerard can deal. He's not a weakling. He'll survive. He'll get by.

When Alicia has twins, Gerard sobers up long enough to nuzzle their soft little heads, but his heart clenches inside his chest. These could've been mine, he thinks, and he hates himself for hating them, ( ... )

It's while he's out with them that he meets Lindsey. She's so beautiful, strong body and warm eyes and happy, red lips. He feels something, for the flash of an instant, but he pushes it away because no, he already had his chance and he gave it up, he didn't fight for it. She asks him to dance, and he says he can't dance, he doesn't know how, and she laughs, a smoky, robust laugh that he likes instantly, and she says, "Fine, spaz out on the floor with me, then." And then she takes his hand (warmskinfirmgripsofthandscalluses) and drags him onto the floor and she starts moving, in this sinuous way that he'd never be able to manage, not even if he turned into a snake and not a wolf, and it's all he can do not to pin her to the floor and take her, he's turned on all at once, all of a sudden, and it hits him like a fist to the solar plexus, just watching her, being near her, breathing in the scent of her sweat ( ... )

omg thank you for this comment. I just punched this out on, like, half a cup of coffee and kinda just zoned and kept typing. It came out way less comment-ficcy than I expected it to, and way longer. I'm so, so glad it carried weight and emotion for you and that it makes sense and works.

Then they bodily force Gerard into the shower and they take him out, and Lindsey's there, and Gerard sees her first, sees her looking frustrated and scared under that beautiful, strong facade, and then she sees him, and she lights up so brightly he thinks that maybe he'd go blind, if it wasn't so beautiful.

Oh, so lovely. Love how Frank saved Gerard, and then Jamia saves him again with Lindsey. This was an awesome set of stories, bb.

This is amazing. Painful and heartbreaking and then hopeful. Gerard finally not only getting who he needs, but someone who'll stay with him always.

The last line is a killer <3
