Writing Plans for the Next Couple of Months

Sep 19, 2013 13:51

So, I was a little under the weather for awhile and I'm just kinda getting back on my feet and trying to get into my writing groove. So in the meantime I've been making some plans for how I want to spend the next couple of months and, since they involve information about fanfiction updates, I wanted to share them here ( Read more... )

Ooh, good luck on NaNoWriMo. I've never successfully done it but it's always a good experience even if you don't finish it. I know you can often get caught up in planning which delays actual writing, so I definitely think it'd be a good idea for you to try it. I don't think I'll have time to try this year, but we'll see.

Thanks. I'm trying to be really low pressure about it and treat it as a draft 0 in the hopes that'll help me get content down that I can revise later. X_x Since this is the first time I'm trying it, though, I'm not totally sure how it'll turn out.

Yeah, it can be hard though since that's now really how you're taught to write. But I think often it can be better since it at least gets something done, and you can always change stuff later.

Yeah, and I know this is how a lot of pros (at least, the highly productive ones) develop their stories--by just kinda jumping in and telling themselves the story that they don't know yet and then working things out later.

I did participate and complete NaNoWriMo two years in a row, but it did require that I give almost no thought to correcting errors and just wrote whatever flowed to the brain. It was a really good exercise for me, because I tend to AP my writing like crazy. I haven't been able to participate for a while now, but the lessons learned still stick with me. I also had the opportunity to meet up with fellow NNWM writers in my city and we read excerpts, which was really kind of cool. I know Epros (MirokuFearsPrayingMantisesMuchly) was/is a moderator of one of the forums there. I find the cute little competitions on the forums helpful in keeping focused on word count production. I had a blast with it and hope to do it in the future sometime, but I have pending writing projects I'd really like to get cracking on first with more quality focus. I think you will enjoy it a lot, and find the experience fruitful. =)
