The scariest piece of propaganda so far, and there is much to choose from, has to be from The Investor's Business Daily, which wrote "The controlling of medical costs in countries such as Britain through rationing, and the health consequences thereof, are legendary. It is maddening, isn't it? As I commented a few days ago at dreamflowers LJ, such 'journalists' seem to think that our system is fully government funded (eum no) in our socialist state (oh really?). And of course, if we get a fact wrong about them, who boy. *sighs sadly*

Thank heavens for Stephen Hawking. And, of course, thank god - or at any rate the Clement Attlee Cabinet - for the NHS. It ain't perfect, but we'd be in a much worse mess without it.

I am so ashamed of my follow countrymen sometimes. So many people in the U.S. are just self-centered enough to believe that someone who uses a synthesized voice with a North-American accent has to be from here. Jeeze ( ... )

I, as you know, have a son who is diabetic and has been since he was eight years old. Because my husband works for a company that offers insurance to its employees we had no trouble in the beginning. Now that my son is 26 and no longer on our insurance, he is unable to afford any sort of insurance that will cover anything diabetic related. He can get coverage at a huge cost, but it won't cover anything diabetic related which can include, kidney problems, heart problems, nerve damage, eye disease, high blood pressure, and almost any problem with any system in the human body. If they can make a case for his having fallen and injured himself due to low blood sugar then I suspect they wouldn't even have to pay for a broken arm! In short, insurance for him is worthless because insurance companies can trace anything back to his diabetes and then refuse to cover it as a pre-existing condition. Like Garnet, his options are very limited in this country ( ... )
