Dear Livejournal, tell me things.

5 and I are looking at getting cell phones. AT&T has become suckier than we can deal with, and they keep getting more expensive. So, seasoned cell phone vets, any suggestions? Companies you love or hate? Phones that will be easier to reassemble into a bomb when I need to thwart a terrorist threat? Any advice is welcome ( Read more... )

Who are you, and why have you hijacked Ryvre's lj? Cell phones?

Anyway, it sounds like something like tracfone might be the way to go for you. I'm not sure about their service, though my dad uses it and has never complained, but it's worth looking into.

I'm clearly a pod person.

I'm probably going to get something with a regular plan, since 5 spends a lot of time on the phone. I had a tracfone a few years ago, and I really liked it until it expired all my minutes because I didn't add more minutes within a certain time period. That really sucked.

I knew it!

Well, I've always had good service with Sprint.

You may want a pay-by-month thing like Virgin Mobile, or even a pay-as-you-go plan.

Thanks. The monthly plan looks like it might be just what I need.

I just switched to T-Mobile and am very happy (I was with Sprint and they are the ultimate suckage).

I think their plans start very cheap for individuals, too.

On the other hand, I've only had the service for four days now, so I'm not at all an expert.

Interesting; I've never had the slightest problem with Sprint. I don't think there's any such thing as consistency when it comes to cell phones. :)

I have T Mobile and I have been with them since um... 2003? I love them. They have good service pretty much the same places as everyone else (their sister company is Cingular so you can use their carrier if Tmobile's isnt as strong). They are also by far the cheapest that I have found. And they have MyFaves which is also awesome if you are calling a lot of the same people. And most plans have free nights and weekends which is also awesomeness. :) Hope this helps!

I am partial to Cingular but mostly because Microsoft signed a contract with them so they are my bitches now.

Free phone when I get one run over, I just found out I get crazy cheap rates if I switch to a corporate plan and I don't have to sign any contract or pay a termination fee. The power of Microsoft!

Anyway, you seem to loathe AT&T, and maybe its regional so while I love Cingular/AT&T, you might want to go with someone else :)
