THE MERMAID’S MIRROR comes out in less than a month! Hence, over the next few weeks, I will be posting links to interviews with some kindly blogger friends. You might want to check them out, not just for the flood of mermaid discussions (yep … water wordplay … I haz it), but because there will be lots of giveaways, too. (I've had way too much

Okay ... the last song I bought was the Eminem/Rihanna duet (which is catchy but makes me feel slightly ill). So I'm feeling behind the times w/ new music. Before that, I think the last album I bought was by One EskimO.
I'm an old skool U2 fangrrl. I can listen to most genres except country ... and even then, I do like some stuff. I have some Johnny Cash, some Hank Williams Sr. and, er, I even have a Dierks Bentley song. How could anyone not like "What Was I Thinkin'?"
I'm not a big fan of pop, more alternative. Let's see ... I love the Old 97's ... Lucinda Williams ... Ryan Adams ... Red Hot Chili Peppers ... Muse ... Los Lonely Boys ... I don't love over-produced stuff, but that's probably just my age. LOL.

Early U2...have you listened to Arcade Fire or Deathcab for Cutie? That's kind of a similar sound.
For classic folk/country sounds you might want to check out Deer Tick, Phosphorescent, or Iron & Wine.
Lucinda Williams kind of has an earthier sound, right (not really sure)? Maybe Ani Difranco or something a little more rocking like Metric or Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
RHCP is throwing me off because all I think of is their early punk stuff, not their later croony radio-safe stuff. Which do you like?

I like ALL of the Chili Peppers ... but their really early stuff less so.
Oh! I do have already have a Florence et al song ... "Heavy in Your Arms." It's from the (blushes) "Eclipse" soundtrack. WHAT. I like the songs they choose for the movies.
Oh, I do like Iron and Wine - their song "Dead Man's Will" absolutely kills me.
Thanks for the recs!

I'd give you music selections, but I only listen to classical (for the most part) -- um, ABBA? ;)
