Man, that link on caregiver murder and abuse was harrowing. Obviously I knew a decent chunk of that stuff intuitively, but YECH. *shudder* I feel comparatively lucky that our disability was ignored and not noticed until adulthood.

Having a hideable/ignorable (probably not real words) diasibility may have been a very mixed blessing in your case, at that particular time. Also, how messed up is it that advocates have to argue for MURDER being prosecuted as MURDER? Like, ffs people.

If you're in the mood for extra harrowing here's information from the WHO on violence against disabled people, and as you might expect the numbers aren't good. Worldwide a disabled child is four times as likely to experience violence as a non-disabled child, and an adult with a mental condition is four times as likely to experience violence as a non-disabled adult. It's part of my research for a post I'm working on about representation in media and now I hate the world.

So why is the movie called "Dragon Blade?" Given the description, I would have expected something like "Rush Hour 16: Blind People Don't Survive."

The Western title is probably to signal that a) this is a movie from Asia/China, hence "Dragon" and b) it's about fighting and not just martial arts, hence "Blade." I heartily approve of your alternate title. XD ( ... )
