draft of the new FAQ on LiveJournal.app

here's the key information about new LiveJournal.app (client for iPhone) that have to be made into an FAQ. thanks for your help!

LiveJournal.app allows you to post new entries to your LiveJournal and receive/send personal messages.

Key features:

• Posting to your journal or communities you are a member of;
• Tags selection with suggestions;

In addition to the presentation you outline, I think there should be some basic configuration (eg, if using proxies and firewalls) and troubleshooting information (like FAQ 27, but tailored to this client). Other than that, looks good to me.

well, could you please maybe start making the FAQ (Janine reserved FAQ 290 for that already) and I will talk to the application's creator tomorrow to see if we can come up with any additional information of the sort that you mentioned that can then be added to the FAQ?

Additionally, it would be nice if we could include in the FAQ a link to any documentation that may exist on the app, and a way to contact the developer (maybe via a comm he maintains?).

I don't think there is any documentation, but I will ask.

Here is my revision of the FAQ:

LiveJournal.app is a mobile client application that provides LJ functionality to an iPhone users

Features in release 0.5.1:

- Post to your journal or a community.
- Post settings include: userpic, visibility, location and commenting.
- Adding photos to the post from the iPhone photo library.
- Tags can be selected from the previous tag list.
- Location detection with a link to Google Maps.
- Post formatting including lj-cut, lj-user, bold, italic, etc.
- Personal messages (Inbox) grouped by user like chat or SMS.

We are currently working on version 0.6 that will include the following additional features:

- Access to friends' list with images;

- Editing your own entries;

- Ability to save several unfinished entries.

Hmm, that entry is protected (and probably should remain so, considering the community). If you really need screenshots to set it up, they should be moved elsewhere (or at least, give us links to public screenshots).

you are the expert in FAQs - do you think we should have the screenshots at all?

I'd say hold onto them for now. Someone would need to put them in an image dir on the servers, and I can't do that anyway.
