Update on the Rich Text Editor

As a followup to last week's entry about the Rich Text Editor (RTE), we wanted to let you know what issues have been fixed, and which still remain.

Fixed:

• Unable to remove/break a link in RTE post once the link is created. (LJSV-1724) [Note: There used to be a seperate button for this, but now the "insert link" button performs both of these

I cannot insert an image or embed media, and I can only post in HTML mode. Rich Text is no longer an option.

Also, when I go to my journal I lose the header that appears when I am on my friends page. All my options become a short column list on the left and there's just a blank space above my most recent journal entry. It's been doing that for about a week now.

What gives?

This is an issue with JavaScript not properly running. There's many different reasons this can happen, in particular:

* JavaScript is disabled in your browser
* Security settings in your browser are set too high
* Browser add-ons which block scripts are in use
* 3rd party software (usually firewall or antivirus software) is interfering with JavaScript running
* Spyware/Malware is present on your computer interfering with JavaScript running
* Your browser is out of date and needs to be updated

Could it have something to do with my registry cleaner? I began using one recently.

The auto-centering text is not happening if I type directly into the text box, but if I copy something (that is NOT centered) from an outside source -- Word, email, notepad, it is automatically centered upon pasting into the text box. I'm on Firefox 5.

One bugaboo that doesn't appear on your list is that auto-fill for tags isn't working yet. Tags is working from the drop box, however.

Yep, you're right, tags not auto-populating isn't working. I've edited the entry to include this.

Thanks for the info on the auto-centering text, we'll play around with this a bit more.

Yep, the tags thing not populating as you type -- yep, that's a new issue that just cropped up in the last day. It's been filed

It's OK. You guys have your hands full right now, and "thinking live" is part of the process.

OK...it appears to happen only on display, not posting. And it's NOT happening -- at least not right now -- with LJ cuts. It happens only on initial entries, not on replies.

Related to the scrapbook and photo posting: I cannot post more than one photo to an entry unless I save the entry and add the next photo via "edit entry". If I try to do it in the original post, the Upload tab in the Image Properties box shows blank. Once the post is saved, adding multiple pictures works as it should.

Text size in the HTML editor is still a few point sizes larger than the pre-update size.

I wish that would happen to the RTE tool bar. I feel like I need a microscope to see the buttons.
