Sep 02, 2011 16:45

As a followup to last week's entry about the Rich Text Editor (RTE), we wanted to let you know what issues have been fixed, and which still remain.

Fixed:

  • Unable to remove/break a link in RTE post once the link is created. (LJSV-1724) [Note: There used to be a seperate button for this, but now the "insert link" button performs both of these ( Read more... )

The auto-centering text is not happening if I type directly into the text box, but if I copy something (that is NOT centered) from an outside source -- Word, email, notepad, it is automatically centered upon pasting into the text box. I'm on Firefox 5.

One bugaboo that doesn't appear on your list is that auto-fill for tags isn't working yet. Tags is working from the drop box, however.

Yep, you're right, tags not auto-populating isn't working. I've edited the entry to include this.

Thanks for the info on the auto-centering text, we'll play around with this a bit more.

Yep, the tags thing not populating as you type -- yep, that's a new issue that just cropped up in the last day. It's been filed ( ... )

It's OK. You guys have your hands full right now, and "thinking live" is part of the process.

OK...it appears to happen only on display, not posting. And it's NOT happening -- at least not right now -- with LJ cuts. It happens only on initial entries, not on replies.

Related to the scrapbook and photo posting: I cannot post more than one photo to an entry unless I save the entry and add the next photo via "edit entry". If I try to do it in the original post, the Upload tab in the Image Properties box shows blank. Once the post is saved, adding multiple pictures works as it should.

Hmmm, I can't reproduce that behavior with the multiple images. This is in the RTE, yes? What browser/version are you using, and can you maybe take a screencap of what the Upload tab looks like when trying to do the second image?

Yes, RTE. I'm using Firefox 5 (haven't upgraded since 6 isn't fully capatable with AVG).

And here's where I publicly humiliate myself. I am RTE toolbar dependent, so I have no clue how to embed an image in a reply. And I probably don't remember how to capture a screenshot since the last time I did it circa 2001. Yes, I'm embarrassed about that.

So, I'll describe it: The first picture loads normally. I click the embed image button again, and the Image Properties box appears with the default tab of Image Info looking completely normal. When I clock over to the Upload tab, the space is completely blank - no text, no dialogue boxes, nothing. At the bottom of the popup, OK and CANCEL are there and appear active, but that's all there is. If I save the entry with the one pic, I can go into Edit and add more pics.

More issues pasting from Word wendymr September 3 2011, 02:38:15 UTC
I'm noticing some slightly different things now when pasting from Word into the RTE:

- When I create the cut now, I don't get a shaded box; I get a line. If I paste or even just type where the mouse ends up (below it), nothing is inside the cut. I have to place my mouse over the line and then hit Enter for a box to be created.

- When I paste the text from Word, centring and justifying are now preserved, as is different text sizes (though if I paste the same block of text twice, centring and larger sizes are lost). However, line spacing in the posting window is twice as wide in the pasted text as it should yet - though it's correct after the post has been uploaded.

- the RTE is still not preserving fonts from Word once I've pasted, meaning if I want to use my preferred font I still have to go into HTML.

Using Firefox 5.0 without the NoScript addon.
