Hello, not sure if I'm in the appropriate place, but y'all seem to be in the know, so figured I'd give it a shot. I'm a maintainer for a community that has over 200,000 comments in under a year, there has been some issues that require me to back up the entire community. I've tried all the various programs, ljarchive, ljmigrate and ljdump, I seem ( Read more... )

Try this: http://semagic.sourceforge.net/Semagic1776for2k.exe
Select community in the journal list and go to Links/Synchronization. If one of server replies is broken what I suppose means your error it should(though I did not checked on actual data) offer you to skip this 1000 comments so you will lose only this amount (comments are downloaded in 1000 item chunks). Or some of the tags are broken so you will have one or two comments with wrong tags but other work well.

If comments are of value, no matter what backup software you use, always back up on hardware also.

I'm sorry I intended to come back to this post and got distracted. I have to thank you, after a month of running in circles, your suggestion to use the old version of Semagic helped me tremendously. I was able to full reclaim almost all the posts from the journal I was trying to back up, including the one's that disappeared when the previous mod deleted her account. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the export feature to work correctly, I think a troll had left a comment with a script that causes ie/ff to crash when trying to load the webpage, it get about 95% done and then crashes. It's too bad because exporting it as a complete web page would have been wonderful, but at the least I have all my post backed up now. So again thank you for your tip I truly appreciated your help!!
