Problem with XML-RPC and getfriends

I'm getting an invalid response back when doing a call to getfriends.  I'm expecting "name" and "fullname" to be strings - but when the name is entirely numeric it's returned as an int instead.  See this response segment for an example ( Read more... )

Wouldn't that require me to check out a copy of the LJ code, get it running on a box of my own, work out what language LJ is written in, learn enough of it to work out where the error lies, fix it and test it?

As I don't even have a unix machine lying around, I'm not going to get very far with that :->

Fair enough. (I was going over unanswered entries trying to find a way to nudge them along.) That said, can you file a bug report in Dreamwidth's bug tracker? That will give you a better chance of getting a patch that can be included in an official LiveJournal bug report for backporting.

I weep that the only way to get LJ to fix their code is to get someone else to fix it for them. It really doesn't give me confidence...
