I'm very, very sorry, but this is on my mind right now and it's ANNOYING ME VERY MUCH and if I don't scream it at SOMEBODY (in this case, the entire internet will do) I'll end up screaming it vocally which, at 11:49 at night, is not a good idea.

This always bugged me too, because it was clearly obvious he let himself drown and it was an act of suicide. The line the UNIT personnel said made no sense either because, drowning to death isn't exactly, you know, a quick way to die and he'd have had time to regenerate and then get out of there...

Well, I always figure that you have to take UNIT's version of events with a pinch of salt. They were only guessing why it happened, after all. It's not like they really have intimate knowledge of Time Lord biology and the quirks of regeneration.

:) I don't blame UNIT... I was mostly yelling at people who actually accepted UNIT's reason, having just read a fic where for some reason they believed that the suddenness of death prevented regeneration, as UNIT did. /shrugs/ You're right. They don't know enough about Time Lords, and it's none of UNIT's fault. :) As I said... I just needed a rant.

Yeah, well, I'm one of those people who really didn't mind CAPSLOCK-YELLING-OF-DOOM!Harry in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, so I'd say that goes a good distance to establish how accepting of rants I am. I don't begrudge you your need to rant at all. Just thought I'd point out that whatever crazy fics come from Turn Left, I personally don't think it's the episode's fault.

It's not like some random UNIT soldier was going to suddenly come out with something like, "I actually think he was depressed enough to choose to drown himself. What? What makes me think that he might have been suicidal? What makes me think it's even possible for him to choose not to regenerate? How could I possibly know any of this? Bitches, didn't you WATCH Doomsday?" ;-)

That, right there, is some brilliantly funny crack!fic in itself. :D /snerk/ Oh, and 10:1 says that said random UNIT soldier is either Ross or Malcolm... That's it, I am FINDING a way to write this in somewhere!
