for the birds

I've been watching the birds flit about in the shrubbery out back this morning, and I managed to catch a couple with my camera. Here is a dark-eyed junco, ID'd with the Merlin app on my iphone.

Nice junco shot. What a beauty! His chest feathers matching the snow.

And those icicles are so lovely! But no, I'm not jealous. Seventy inches of snow? The UK would have trouble coping with seven...

You'd think we never got snow here, they're doing a terrible job of coping with it. They shut down mass transit in Boston for two days. And they want to host the Olympics?
