I've been watching some of the Live Earth concert in between loads of laundry today, and I wonder if anyone has thought about the vast amount of power that must be needed to put on so many shows all over the world. Are they doing anything about offsetting all that carbon? Hmmmmm? I didn't see anything about it on any of the preachy spots in between ( Read more... )

Heard an interview with Al Gore about the concert on the radio this morning, and yes, they are making a concerted effort (sorry, my puns are leaking) to put on the show in a carbon-neutral way.

Such as: All the performers on stage are local to that stage, to cut down on travel, and using high-effiency lightbulbs to light the shows, and giving a coupon for compact fluorescent bulbs to every concertgoer...

You know, I was thinking the exact, same thing about the carbon. I'll bet a lot of people are.

It's a week from tomorrow. You should definitely come sometime! It's a wonderful place. If you can only come for a couple of days, I recommend the second weekend, when a lot of the Starwood folks show up, and there's a huge bonfire. Look for me at Babylon camp!
