So it's Student Government election time at UF, at least for senators, which means of course it's all lies, corruption, voting errors and then of course being bombarded by party representives everywhere you go on campus. After 2.5 years at UF, I've managed to learn how to dodge them, through a variety of tactics ( Read more... )

THANK YOU! I'm so glad someone noticed the blatant finger pointing at Dustin (I knew it was him right away in the first article that ran yesterday). As soon as I read that, I called my boyfriend up and bitched to him about it, because more than the Greek, oh I mean Gator, Party it makes TKE look bad because the Gator canidate also happened to be a TKE pledge. Grrrr ( ... )

Yeah, Dustin told me yesterday that it was him they mentioned vaguely, so I was on the lookout.

And yeah, I agree for the most part... except I still don't agree with how they get people to vote, force pledges to do DM, etc.

And yeah, that was my main point of this entry... how come no one other than the Alligator writers actually vote against the Greeks if they don't like them that much?

Yeah. Campus politics sucks. We're not electing anyone right now, but our recently-elected student body president had this to say at Convocation (stirring lots of controversy):

"Jesus is a good example of character, but He's also much more than that. He is the solution to flawed people like corrupt Dartmouth alums, looters, and me.

Jesus' message of redemption is simple. People are imperfect, and there are consequences for our actions. He gave His life for our sin so that we wouldn't have to bear the penalty of the law; so we could see love. The problem is me; the solution is God's love: Jesus on the cross, for us."

Basically it became a sermon instead of a speech. Great way to welcome the class of '09, buddy...
