The rain came down like beads

Paid, yay! daffodilblonde and I went to Winton yesterday, which we do when the soul-destroying blanditude of the much handier Castlepoint Shopping Centre gets too much for us to bear. Winton is an old-fashioned little down-at-heel high street, complete with charity shops ranging from posh to manky, actual family butchers, a discount health food store, a ship's ( Read more... )

They are. Same like Puppy is - and I love seeing videos of him with his grin and his glorious flaggy tail.

Isn't it fabulous, miraculous, to be able to do something as simple as buy a cheap rubber toy and walk a quarter-mile to the park and generate that much happy?

I like how Spike keeps picking the toy up and putting it down closer.

"Here! No... here! No... here! See?" :P

I had to teach him that; his natural inclination is to retrieve things and stop ten feet away so I have to walk forward to pick them up again. But I am very very lazy and I don't have ten foot arms so I refuse to throw the toy until he brings it in reach. He learned that one VERY fast.

Also, I actually caught the shark action on film that time, did you see?

As a matter of fact, they HAVE bottled it, sort of... St. Germain liqueur is made of elderflower blossoms. We bought a bottle (pricey!) because of my name, and it was immensely delicious!

your boys are so handsome. ^_^

Oooh! I didn't know that! You can buy elderflower cordial in shops here, and I have made it before - I've never seen elderflower liqueur, though.

Though now I think of it, it should be perfectly possible to make my own. Elderflowers, lemon peel and sugar, steeped in vodka or white rum, much like my grandmother used to do with various fruits when she was alive... I think I just discovered my summer project for this year!

I'm always there reading and lurking. But I do have my hermitty spells between bouts of loquacity.

I love watching them as much as you love filming them...and I get such a kick out of Spike's...Don't you even THINK about touching my ring!...growl...and how he shamelessly grabs Squish's ring, and how he drops it, checks, gets it closer, and checks again...

and how Squish grabs the other ring when Spike takes his...

I love watching your dogs...:D

Thank you!

Spike is a sod. But this is why I always have at least one more toy than I have dogs - Squish isn't as obsessive about them as Spike is, but he does get upset if he loses his and there isn't a substitute immediately available.

Wish we had some rain.

Not three months of constant, flood- inducing rain, but a day or two would break the 100+ degree heat.
