Hey y'all. Took a week off lj/DW for my health and because I was on a WoW binge - separate post to follow. Hope all my fellow North Americans had a happy National Birthday of their choice (though yes, I'm a few months late for any Mexicans on f'list - uh, do I have any Mexicans on my f'list? News to me if so).

I had an AWESOME Canada Day - ( Bunnies! Mounties! Fireworks! WHEEE! )

l&c, life, canada, hugo

Have you gotten to the Frog-Eating-Lois-Clone yet? GODS.

And I really enjoy The 4400. I like that the "super-powers" are unpredictable, that they're not all things you'd WANT, that they NEVER repeat one...

The show never garnered a fan base, and iingaartist posits that it's because there are just NO ships on the show.

And TEMPUS!!! OMG! I LOVE that L&C gave us BOTh the best possible reactions from Lois: slapping him with the "Don't even try to pretend that hurt," and the "Who's asking? Clark? Or Superman?" ::LOVE::

Yeah. God, I just wanted to KILL her.

Hey, but what about (god I suck at names) black soldier guy and the granddaughter of his old girlfriend? I totally 'ship them.

YES. That was win.

True. I LOVE Robert, and I love how he loves Lily, even if she's not-quite-so-bright.

However, think in fannish terms, and look for the UST, the anticipation. Tom and Diana really have no chemistry, although I LOVE them and LOVE their partnership, I just don't see any UST. Same thing with Tess Doerner and Kevin--LOVELY...but not UST so much.

TRY to find believable slash (especially betwen folks who argue). Tom and Jordan...maybe...but Tom's often with someone. Shawn and Jordan...maybe.... Jordan and Kyle, later on, but I think that's pretty much one-way. I am surprised that the incest crowd didn't go for the Shawn and Kyle...

But I LOVE the show, and the potential. I have written 2 or 3 drabbles for it and a Diana and Maya story (they're at ff.net), and there are tidbits at Yuletide, but...it just didn't grab people.

I think there also may have been some snobbery re: "it airs on USA" ...sort of like Blood Ties being on Lifetime where fen were less likely to find it.

Tfrue. Which is probably part of why it hasn't grabbed me in that "woah, new fandom!" way.

Oh thank god, I thought maybe my slash goggles where broken. I couldn't find a damn thing.

[self-deleted comment about what the incest crowd can go do with itself] Ahem. Yes. Very surprising. and God's own mercy

I think there also may have been some snobbery re: "it airs on USA" ...sort of like Blood Ties being on Lifetime where fen were less likely to find it.Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh. What the FUCK is WRONG with people sometimes? "It airs on X" is SERIOUSLY a reasonable ( ... )

I had to go find it on YouTube, cause I was pretty sure that Tempus was Lane Davies, who I loved on Santa Barbara. Anyway, I thought you might make good use of the link. ;-)

I rather liked most of it, but got really really frustrated with the end of season three, where they kept coming up with more and more contrived ways of keeping them apart. I've given up on it because I just can't take any more.

I've heard that, if you make it through the season and a half of lame (and the horror of watching Teri Hatcher's skeleton become more and more visible--but SHE WASN'T LOSING WEIGHT! That was an ILLUSION OF THE COSTUMING! Pay no attention to those photos from Macgyver or early L&C!), that the last half of the last season really is lovely.

What made me walk away was the ever-reducing presence of K. Callan (and Eddie, though to a lesser extent), but it was obvious that if Mom and Dad showed up, it would take all of 3 minutes for the Stupid Plot to be resolved by their Common Sense.

Stupid writing.

Stupid stupid inherited wisdom. "Moonlighting was a HUGE success, so OBVIOUSLY no couple is allowed EVER to happily get together, no matter how naturally the plot seems to be going in that direction, so we must do EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING to keep them apart - thus MURDERING the chemistry, then sit back and wonder why the show is failing."

...it took us TWENTY YEARS (and Joss Whedon) to get us out of that one. I mean I love Moonlighting, but there's a part of me that will always hate it for what it (inadvertently) did to TV.

Ow! I hate dental work.

As to the link - those people need to get a fucking life. Their forum is a boring pointless waste, too.

HA! I remember that episode. My family laughed over that for a good five minutes solid. DUH, Lois! Sheesh.

I watched Lois and Clark in its original run, when I was too young to really get most of it, and there's not a whole lot that I do remember about them. I remember the horrible proposal cliffhanger of doooooom (I think I was 10 when that happened) and squeeing about it in the bathroom with the one other girl I knew who watched. And then I really don't remember much else until the marriage itself, when I started to lose interest in the show.

Man, that brings back some memories. I'm going to have to get around to rewatching it someday. It might end up being one of those things that I remember as being better than it really was, but I might be surprised and it might be better than I remember (like Scarecrow and Mrs. King was/is).

Do they actually get a marriage? Because there's been a wedding, but it was fake!clone Lois, and then real Lois got amnesia, and her slimy doctor made her fall in love with him, and then I threw my hands up in disgust and refused to watch this goddamned cock tease any longer. Clark's balls must be starting to match his tights. YEEESH.

They do.

It's in an episode called (I swear), "Swear to God, We're Not Kidding This Time."

And Bosley from Charlie's Angels is there in some fantasy-cloudy-something to marry them cuz he's, like, maybe, an angel or something. At least K and Eddie got to BE there...

Thanks for answering that, because once I started thinking about it...I honestly wasn't sure if they ever actually DID or not!

I need to rewatch this at some point.
