Hey y'all. Took a week off lj/DW for my health and because I was on a WoW binge - separate post to follow. Hope all my fellow North Americans had a happy National Birthday of their choice (though yes, I'm a few months late for any Mexicans on f'list - uh, do I have any Mexicans on my f'list? News to me if so).

I had an AWESOME Canada Day - spent the morning in Wascana Park: visited the petting zoo (ZOMG! BUNNIES!!!!11!!!), listened to an awesome blues band, and ate overpriced but very good Greek food from a vendor, and then in the afternoon we went to the RCMP visitor's centre - toured the museum, went on the walking tour of the base, and then stayed for the Colours ceremony. It really is, in terms of training, culture, and the sense of history, more like a special forces unit than a police force. Which has its good and bad qualities, I guess. Still, I'm fiercely proud to have them. Anyway, then it was back to the park for the evening concert (some 80's metal band I've never heard of - they were not bad) and the fireworks, which were AMAZING.

The Hobbit casting spoiler has been sadly debunked - apparently Del Toro neglected to tell Hugo he was in the movie before opening his mouth. :/

As to Michael Jackson - honestly, I think the poor man has been dead for years in any meaningful sense. I'm more torn up about Farah Fawcett - especially that her timing means she's being totally ignored, which is total BS.

Mike and I have been watching our way through Lois and Clark; we're currently on season three and OH. MY. GOD!! These two are worse than John and Aeryn! "Marry me." "No, I need time." "Fine, but I'm gonna sulk about it" "Okay, I WILL marry you." "Well, I just decided we can't see each other because I love you TOO much." "Well fine, I'm gonna see other people, but be miserable and STILL be in danger because my old Uni bf is a crazy druid." "Okay I can't stand seeing you with someone else, so let's go out again." "No, I can't believe you hurt me like that, so we're Just Partners." AND THAT'S JUST DISC ONE. I'm almost scared to move on to Disc two! Do they seriously keep this up for A WHOLE SEASON? At least now she KNOWS he's Superman - because two years of that was just getting ridiculous. *insert Tempus's "DUH!!" speech here*

We're also working our way through the 4400 - it's interesting so far, but it hasn't GRABBED me, really. We've got S2 out from the Library, but haven't gotten to it yet.

...and that's it for me for now! Hope you're all doing well.

[Lois:] If you wanna kill Superman, I don't know why you're going to Smallville or 1966.
[Tempus:] She doesn't know yet. Oh, this is good. This is really good. Um, Lois, did you know that, in the future, you're revered at the same level as Superman? Why there are books about you, statues, an interactive game. You're even a breakfast cereal.
[Lois:] Really?
[Tempus:] Yes. But, as much as everybody loves you, there is one question that keeps coming up: "How dumb was she?" Here, I'll show you what I mean. Look [puts glasses on], I'm Clark Kent. [Takes glasses off] No, I'm Superman. [Puts glasses on] Mild-mannered reporter. [Takes glasses off] Superhero. ...Hello! Duh!! Clark Kent is Superman. [laughs maniacally] Well, that was worth the whole trip. To actually meet the most galactically stupid woman who ever lived.
