They are, but at the same time they're very similar. I think of them as having the same relationship to each other as the movie and the comic V for Vendetta have to each other.
Of course, my father probably likes the first version of it as he seems to consistently prefer older movies over newer ones.

Also, your philosophy with gift cards is very similar to my philosophy with money I get for Christmas and birthdays. It's given to me so I can get something for myself, not so I can spend it on others. At least, that's usually the intent behind it.
Yeah, though it took me a while (and a lot of annoyed relatives) to come to that conclusion. My first instinct is always to do for others, and myself after.

I spent (most) of my Xmas money on myself, too (half of it I pitched in with my husband on something he really wanted).

* 4 ounces of butter
* 1 tablespoon vanilla
* 1/2 cup of confectioners sugar
* 1 cup sifted flour
* 1 cup chopped pecans
Preperation: Cream butter and stir in vanilla. Gradually work in confectioner's sugar and flour. Add chopped pecans and work into dough. Pinch off dough and roll to form balls about the size of a quarter. Place on baking sheet. Bake at 315' for 15-18 minutes. Roll Pecan Cookies in confectioners sugar while still hot. Makes about 2 dozen delicious Pecan Butter Cookies.

Ah well. I bred for the first time today, and it was well exciting even if I didn't get anything spesh and abandoned them all. I am a cruel mama!
