Does anyone even read this anymore? WARNING: Actual fandom content ahead!

So, to no one's surprise more than mine, I suddenly find myself in a fandom! How did that happen? I don't even remember the last time I devoured fic (and one of the joys of finding a well-established fandom is that there's SO MUCH FIC, of course, one of the problems is trying to hunt down the good fic amongst the deluge).

Oh, and it's Avengers, if ( Read more... )

Yay, we share a fandom again! :D

You can find my recs on LJ under my avengers tag, on pinboard or at the AO3 in my bookmarks (which you can now filter \o/).

Thank you! I am excited to even BE in a fandom again, having people I know in it makes it SO MUCH BETTER.

fuckyeahavengers is what sucked me into the whole tumblr world. I kept ending up over there in the run-up to the movie and finally caved and got one of my own...

I got a Tumblr because it seemed like everyone had one and I felt like I was missing something. I like the ability to share pretty pictures and such, but there's really no good way to have a conversation.

It's funny, because even though I know most of the fic posting is happening over on AO3 and not on LJ these days, the first place I came running back to upon discovering a new fandom was LJ. This is where all the good conversations always were!

I'm taking the red eye in to JFK and arriving in the wee hours on Thanksgiving, then flying back the 28th. I'll definitely have a city day or two in there--trying to figure out which shows to see. I'd love to see Newsies, but tickets are tough (stupid holiday weekend!) I'm a bit terrified of the new Bare, because it looks like they changed everything and it's seems very not good, and I want to see Golden Boy, but yeesh, three hours (my not-so-deep-dark-secret is that one of the reasons I like Chris Evans so much is because of how much he reminds me of Seth).

Matt has a Rockwood show on that Monday which I'm kind of on the fence about... we've been talking (did you know he'll be starring in Book of Mormon starting the 27th?), but, eh. Anyway, would LOVE TO SEE YOU VERY VERY MUCH.

I still get confused when.I land on a story on AO3 where the Avengers live in Tony's old mansion on 5th Avenue. I assume this is comicbook fic, but having not read them, maybe it was speculation fic before Avengers came out.

I think Avengers' Movieverse will be a sustained fandom for a very long time, so you have a lot to look forward to. Have you watched Thor yet?

Thor is the only one I didn't see in theatres... I illegally downloaded managed to obtain it, and plan to watch it this weekend!

Thor in fic cracks me up. I'm a little afraid he might not be as awesome in canon!

Thor is pretty awesome in canon. It's full of pretty, and there's enough comedy and lightness to counter some of the darker elements of the plot.

It was directed by Branagh, who really did a good job. And, of course, Hopkins, what with him being a Shakespearean pro, made the more formal language of Asgard sound normal.

(Oh, and then there's Hiddleston. My imaginary boyfriend. Seeing Loki all damaged and sad!face...the h/c, lady, THE H/C!!!!! :-p

YAY!! Glad to see you around. *hugs*

♥ AVENGERS!! ♥ I love the movie so much. I haven't delved into fandom or fics but I love the movie. And YES Steve Rogers is amazing and needs all the hugs. And there's dear Coulson who brought them all together. They're all brilliant! And Ao3 is great, I used to live over there when I was devouring Merlin fic. I'd download fics to my NOOK or iPod.

Yeah, I can download them and send them to my Kindle, though I haven't tried that yet. I have a long flight next week so I'm hoping to stock up on reading material... if I can stop READING EVERYTHING long enough, that is!

I love the stories that deal with all the LITTLE things that have to be so weird for Steve. Like, the internet and cable television are crazy, but so is toothpaste! and grocery stores!
