A very powerful piece of writing. You particularly killed me with this,

Wallowing in fear does nothing. Feeding that fear is a true crime. Lying about it to entertain the masses or make a political point, however...well...that's just a sin.

I've never been able to verbalize why I get so agitated about Republican strategists who try to use September 11th to their advantage; thank you for putting it so succinctly.

My aunt has been emailing me about how to protest this docu-drama for two weeks now. I linked her to this page.

Link it as far and as wide as you'd like.

As for protesting the docu-drama, short of boycotting Disney (almost impossible) and ABC (much, much easier) and their associated networks (somewhat easier than boycotting Disney), I'm out of ideas.

How about asking for Federal Elections Commission to step in and investigate this? That's what I did, and you can read my letter to them here, and send one yourself here.

This is one of the most powerful things I've read in quite some time. The unfortunate thing in my horribly cynical and negative opinion is that it won't reach the people that it needs to reach.

Our media has become so driven/obsessed with entertainment that they'll add or omit facts at will just to sell the story to a few more people. The simple concept that real people are involved and that what they went thru was very traumatic doesn't even register.

The worst part is that in most cases regardless of whatever someone believes before hand, after they watch the 'docu-drama' they'll believe that and only that. Why? Because it was on TV.

So I agree that things need to change, but quite honestly, I won't be holding my breath.

No, it probably won't reach the people it needs to reach.

I'll settle for it reaching just one, though. All I need is one. You have to start somewhere and one is a very fine start.

I admit that I'm a cynic at heart myself, but I'm just not ready to give up. Not yet. As long as someone somewhere is reminding people that this is not entertainment and real people have some very legitimate grievances that need to be addressed, it's worth it to keep fighting.

Maybe nothing will change, but maybe something might. Don't know until you give it a shot.

As for believing something that was on TV, I don't know of too many people - family or friends - that follow that line of reasoning any more. Granted, that maybe just in my circle. But where there's one circle, there's more. Sooner or later it spreads.

Thank you for reading.

I'd post a better response, but yikes! I'm trying to answer everyone.
