yet more infant illnesses

onefishclappin , watch out for respiratory infection in the next couple weeks.

Elissa has had a cough, percolating breathing, and colorless runny nose for a little over a week.  The past couple days she's been much more irritable and fussy than is usual.  She's such a mild and happy baby that you immediately notice when something's wrong.

Diagnosis:  probably RSV. ( Read more... )

elissa, ear infection, rsv, bronchitis

Lovely! Especially with us traveling on Monday. And Alex has been acting like he has a cold... maybe he's old enough that it might manifest more as a cold than full fledged RSV. Grrr.
Good luck tomorrow. Take care of the baby.

If Alex hasn't started wheezing, gurgling, percolating, or otherwise sounding "wet" when he coughs or breathes, he's probably in the clear and won't get the nastiness, especially since he has no adenoids that can lead to the secondary infections. It's also more than likely that he's already had this, since he's been in daycare for a while, and Matthew was in daycare before that, bringing home all kinds of things. Repeat infections are less severe than the first ones.

He has a slightly "wet" cough, but it's not too bad. I'm sure even if he has it, it likely will not be too bad. I know that's what they always worry about w/premies.

5 doses of Xopenex did the trick for her wheezing, and the vaporizer is doing great for the cough and runny nose. I hope to have this licked before we head to my aunt's for Thanksgiving (2.5hr drive).
