Today was my lecturing debut. I taught a class to an audience who had paid money to learn from me, and I'm going to get paid for it like a proper grown-up lecturer.
I think it's often really useful to have the flexibility to be able to throw a prepared structure out the window if necessary. Yeah, I know I would say that, but I think sometimes the most useful and creative discussions come when you hurl the lesson plan aside and get on with what your students need to know, as you say, and you can get on with what you think it's most important to get across. Congrats! All sounds very good and interesting.
