You know what, today I was reading something completely unrelated to work in ANY way or of any kind - I think it was about journalling - and it said "Losing a job is one of the most traumatic things that can happen."
And it blew me away. But honestly, it IS. In so many ways, it is, and there was so much validation in just that acknowledging of how completely unsettling it is.
I DON'T GET COMPANIES THAT DO THAT KIND OF "OFF THE SCHEDULE" CRAP. And I say that after going through my own different crap. What kind of passive aggressiveness is that? "Off the schedule," what does that even mean? Either you fire somebody or you don't. They aren't just ~magically~ not on the schedule. I had a job tell me that if I didn't start increasing my sales of ridiculous kitchen doodads that I would be taken ~off the schedule~. It's bullshit. Either someone is doing a lousy job and they deserve to be fired or they aren't. Off the schedule shouldn't even be acceptable wording for anything. Just fire the person. Say it was employment at will and you don

I have to say, that is one of the best stories so far, and I happen to know a thing or two about good getting fired stories.
