mail order

Can anyone recommend (or recommend against) any mail order nurseries, from which I can order flowers? Preferably online, but catalog sales would work too. I'm building a new garden, and will probably need to order quite a bit, and need a good selection ( Read more... )

Good question. Plants. Perennials. I have horrible luck with seeds. But I'll probably end up trying a few.

Good stuff. Thanks!

I too do seeds mainly.. cause I ain't got no money, but the two I frequent the most have a few plants:

www.seedsavers.org

and

www.territorial-seed.com

For the odd herbal things I order from:

www.horizonherbs.com

the roses are a different matter. I get them from David Austin roses and Edmunds roses.. if you are interested I can look up the web addresses.

There is ONE place I get plants from exclusively, but it specializes in east coast. They are a bit north of me, but still in the Carolinas, so even though they are STELLAR.. I am not sure how much you could find to grow where you are.

www.plantdelights.com

If you are ever bored... just read through the catalog. He is quite the humorist.

Okay, so Plant Delights just kept me busy for nearly an hour. And that was just clicking through in a hurry. Although most of their stuff was zone 7 and warmer.

I'm not doing a rose... yet. It's on the list, but I'm not sure if I'm starting iwth it, or I'll add it some time in the future.

Thanks!

I've got a catalog and a gift certificate from them. I'm glad to hear you approve. :-)

Have you tried Burpee ( http://www.burpee.com )? I've never been disappointed with them, even if they are a bit pricey. But then again, most nurseries are....
I've also used Gurney's ( www.gurneys.com ), and have had good luck with them too.
Hope these are useful!

Checked them out. They look good too. Thanks! And sorry I didn't reply sooner. I still haven't ordered anything yet, for my new garden.
