Merry Bianowiczmas!

There were scalloped potatoes and sickkk desserts and we rented, yes rented, Jingle All the Way. It’s a sacred tradition that needs to be upheld.

Also rented Beerfest. I wasn’t in love with it, yet I loved Super Troopers. There were so many tits in this one! I really feel like the Broken Lizard dudes are pandering to the Old ( Read more... )

Your post reminded me of this Nas that was on the radio a lot --
Egypt was the place that Alexander the Great went
He was so shocked at the mountains with black facs
Shot up they nose to impose what basically
Still goes on today, you see?
If the truth is told, the youth can grow

Do you listen to any rap/hip hop?

I stay away from most of it (Akon = my actual worst nightmare), but some is good and I feel like you'd like some if you haven't heard it already -- I listen to a lot of Immortal Technique - Leaving the Past is one of my favorite songs, One is good, Harlem Streets... actually, all of Revolutionary Vol 2 (except Obnoxious, which is extremely obnoxious) is good.

I'm really out of touch with rap and hip hop, and I think this is lame. I'd really appreciate any song recommendations... or mix CDs? Mix CDs are love, and I'd return the favor...

And those Nas lyrics own.

Sorry, I've been trying to figure out if I have enough to fill a CD... I think that I can muster one, it might be a little weak but I'll do my best :) Address?

i think about this with regards to christian missionaries in places like sudan. in a book i'm reading right now, "what is the what" by dave eggers, a sudanese refugee explains how he had never seen a white person before, and when the (white) christian missionaries handed him a pamphlet explaining christ, obviously christ was a white man. automatically this invokes feelings of inferiority - this white person is more closely related to christ then me, and so he is more closely related to god. he must be superior ( ... )

I had the conversation about white Jesus 50 billion times in So Af, and recently with my mom at our kitchen table. Right you are.

I am one pissed off white child. I don't want to tamper with free speech--I don't think that casting black actors in roles of power and respect should be legally mandated. But it should be good common sense in a nation with such a high literacy rate. I mean, fuckin' A.
