huzzah for random finds!
We have had one in San Diego for a few years. It became "Marukai" in 2009.

But It's almost exactly the same. I live in the "Little Tokyo" area of San Diego. So we have a Nijiya with in walking distance and Mitsuwa too. My husband and i try to go running around 1845, to get the 20% off sushi!

There are quite a few Marukai stores (regular markets as well as the 98¢ stores) in the L.A./O.C. areas, but I was excited about Daiso because I'd read about their Japan stores and wanted so badly for them to open some locally.

I've probably been to Nijiya in Little Tokyo L.A., but Mitsuwa is my go-to place for my Japanese grocery needs because there are a couple of locations I can go to. :)

I'm sure you'll find lots of cute things to buy there. ;)

I spent quite a long time in there myself. I didn't want to leave; I wanted almost everything!

I'll be in L.A. for the first week of June. Whilst walking around, I shall have to shield my eyes because if i'm let loose in there, the bank shall take my house...and my dog....and my first born....

You're coming to L.A.? That's awesome! What'll you be doing in town? Be careful if you go into a store like this - you just might lose your whole day there. I tend to lose track of time because I look at every single thing. :D

I saw those old toys you posted on your blog. Like the McDonald's robot/food things. I used to have those too! They probably got tossed out by my parents when I was a kid because I have no idea where they are now. I remember playing with the hamburger one all the time.
